A Letter of Introduction, and an Invitation to Find Your Thread

by Jamie English
Jun 13, 2026

Dear friend,

There's a version of this letter I could write that lists credentials and offerings and tells you all the reasons you should trust me. That's not this letter.

This is the one where I tell you the truth.

I built this space because I needed it, and it didn't exist. Somewhere between my own complicated history with my body, a doctoral dissertation rooted in narrative therapy, and years of sitting with clients and clinicians who were quietly carrying stories they'd never been invited to speak out loud...I realized I wasn't just building a practice. I was building the room I'd always been looking for.

A room where the work is real. Where being a therapist doesn't exempt you from being human. Where your body doesn't have to earn its place. Where we're allowed to still be in process...all of us, myself included.

That's what this is.

The Threads

This space unfolds along three paths, and you're welcome to follow whichever one feels most like yours right now.

Outside the Diet Trance is for anyone exploring their relationship with body image and diet culture—and what it might feel like to live beyond the messages we've been handed about our bodies.

Finding & Owning Your Clinician Voice is for therapists and helping professionals who are building confidence in who they are clinically—not just what they know, but how they show up.

Doing Our Own Work is for professionals in body image, eating disorders, and related fields who recognize that the questions we ask our clients have a way of turning back toward us.

You might find yourself in one or two threads.  You might find yourself in all three. You don't have to choose just one. Follow whatever thread feels most like yours right now—that's enough.

Where to Begin

Each thread has a free resource waiting for you—a small entry point into the work:

If Outside the Diet Trance is your thread, there's a short email series to start you on the path.

If Finding & Owning Your Clinician Voice is calling, download The Balanced Clinician Guide—a resource for the part of you that gives a lot and sometimes forgets to tend to itself.

If Doing Our Own Work resonates, the Body Integration Manifesto is yours?  A grounding document for professionals ready to turn the lens inward.

What's Coming

This summer, I'm offering a free webinar—details coming soon, and you heard about it here first.

My dear friend and collaborator, Lindsey, and I hosted a poetry night earlier this year that felt like exactly what we want for the world:  a space where people gather, feel something, and leave a little more themselves. We're taking that on the road. A small tour is coming this fall, and if you want to be in the room, let me know.

Also this fall: an EMDR consultation group for clinicians working toward certification (September), and a supervisor's consultation group for those navigating that next layer of professional identity (October). If you want to be kept in the loop, just hit reply and let me know.

More on all of it as it takes shape.

For now, I'm just glad you're here.

This space was built for people who are tired of pretending to have it together and are ready to actually live it. People who want to do the real work, on themselves and with others. People who believe, even on the hard days, that coming home to yourself is worth it.

That's the vision. That's the thread I'm following.

I hope you'll follow it with me.

With warmth,

Jamie
